Happy New Year from Global Focus Coaching! As 2024 comes to a close, we’re looking back with gratitude for a year of deep learning, connection, and growth in our coaching community. This December, we celebrated the graduation of our very first cohort of Professional Certified Global Coaches! 2024 was an incredibly rewarding year as we ran our very first professional coach certification program, Coaching for Complexity. After nine months of hard work and many hours of study, practice, and supervision, this inspiring group of graduates are launching their own coaching practices and integrating professional coaching into their work as educators, facilitators, DEI practitioners, herbalists, healers, farmers, activists, and non-profit leaders.

Stories from Our Graduates
Babacar Mbaye (above left) is an educator who will volunteer as a coach for an NGO working with youth at risk and keep working with Senegalese college students. Read more about Babacar’s story.
Amber Keith (above right) is a plant woman, yogi, educator, and grief and death doula who integrates coaching into her healing and rites of passage facilitation. Read more about Amber’s story.
Karin Firoza (above left) is a DEI practitioner and facilitator. “I am already incorporating many of my coaching skills into my work as an educational equity consultant. I will work toward my ICF certification and am aspiring toward becoming a full time coach in the next two years with a focus on DEI change management and conflict resolution.”
Berta Gielge (above center) is an educator, farmer, and Permaculture specialist. “Exploring the art of coaching, I learned so many things about myself, and about the potential of holding space for each others growth. I can see the skills I have gained in the training and am continuing to gain in the practice to benefit my work as an educator with students, and also as a facilitator and trainer in my Permaculture work.”
Annika Ruben (above right) is an educator and facilitator currently launching her coaching practice as a side gig. “Aside from learning the more technical skills of coaching, each weekend intensive also felt like a celebration of the struggles, joys, and authentic lived experiences of everyone in our cohort. I would 100% recommend this course to anyone looking to improve their personal relationships, become more self-aware, bring coaching skills into their current job, or start coaching clients of their own.”
Reflections on our August Retreat
This August in El Sobrante, California, we gathered a group of coaches from our Coaching for Complexity cohort, along with body workers, theater facilitators, educators, yogis, non-profit leaders, and other social change-makers looking to ground themselves in somatic practices. Our 2-day Land Within Yourself Retreat was a deeply connective and restorative chance for us to dig into the somatic aspects of coaching and interpersonal work, and allowed cohort members who had only spent time together on Zoom to finally interact in person! Special thanks to Somatics Coach Ashley Kelly for her warm-hearted expert guest facilitation.
